* Effective Web Site Design, Development, and Graphics Since 1996 *

SKDesigns is a busy Web design and development business established by owner Shirley Kaiser in 1996. Stunning, standards-based, clean, high quality work, both visually and behind the scenes are SKDesigns' hallmarks. Web sites also excel in easy navigation, quick-loading pages, wide-range accessibility, and search engine friendly design. Our Portfolio section goes into further detail. Visit our Clients page to view samples, too.

About SKDesigns

SKDesigns has received high praise, recognition and awards, and the respect of colleagues and clients. Most new projects are the result of recommendations and referrals.

SKDesigns has also designed, developed, and maintains several independent Web sites, such as Brainstorms and Raves, LinkwareGraphics Music Images, and WebsiteTips.com. Visit the Independent Projects section for details.

Writing

SKDesigns' owner, Shirley Kaiser, has written books on Web site design, dozens of articles, tips and tutorials, and she writes an almost daily column. See the Writing section for more details.

Community Involvement

Shirley is on the Web Standards Project (WaSP) Steering Committee, an active voice on the Web to help promote standards for browsers and related software and to help educate.

Shirley also spent 2001 as moderator for I-Design, a popular Web design discussion digest published by Adventive (John Audette) 3 times weekly with over 12,000 subscribers (no longer online). She is also quite involved elsewhere in the Internet community, with memberships in numerous professional organizations, discussion lists, and contributes much time to helping others through these mediums, her articles, tutorials and tips, and several Web sites devoted to annotated listings of high quality resources. See the Independent Web Site Design Projects section here.

SKDesigns is also involved in the local Sacramento area community, too, supporting the local PBS station, contributing to local Sacramento service projects, and more.

About the Owner

photo of Shirley Kaiser, 1999The owner of SKDesigns, Shirley Kaiser, comes from a long line of talented artists and musicians that go back many generations. A California native, she grew up in Sacramento living and breathing the arts and the creative process.

SKDesigns has been a terrific solution for Shirley to integrate her background in business management, layout and design, the arts, and her advanced skills with computer technology and the Internet.

Her love for teaching and helping others is reflective in her community involvement noted above and as a Web Standards Project (WaSP) Steering Committee Member. WaSP is a highly active voice on the Web promoting Web standards for browsers and related software, and educating fellow designers and developers.

In addition, Shirley has written a new book on essentials for Web sites, she's a contributing author to a college textbook on dynamic HTML (DHTML), and she's written dozens of articles and tutorials on a wide range of topics related to Web site design, music, and other subjects. Visit the Portfolio's Writing, Editing section for details and examples.

Her academics reflect her love for the arts with art classes, yearbook staffs, music studies in Europe, giving solo concerts (classical and her own compositions), and bachelor's and master's degrees in piano performance.

Her life also reflects her love for the arts. Her online art gallery displays some of her more recent digital artwork and another Web site includes sound clips of her new CD and more.

The Web Site Design Clients and Independent Web Site Design Projects sections of SKDesigns provides further samples of her art and achievements in Web site development.

Shirley lives in central California in the Sacramento area with her family, not far from where she grew up.
